In advance of Monday's meeting....
This session will be most useful if you have done some preparation, or have previously included some DNA data in a genealogy report. Also, check out the BCG's new DNA standards - Standards for DNA Evidence: https://bcgcertification.org/standards-for-dna-evidence/
Links included in the meeting invitation - Background information - Using DNA to fill gaps in family histories: http://www.pwaldron.info/IFHS/ - There are a number of good posts and podcasts on FamilyLocket.com: How to Prepare DNA Research Reports for Sharing: https://familylocket.com/how-to-prepare-dna-research-reports-for-sharing/ - Playlist on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4KyIQc4eVw&list=PLbWohRttmiAiRh9RJsRuUC7Qcf9wA3tLl If possible, please bring some rough drafts to share! Either send them to the group in advance, or share a link to a Google Doc on your Google Drive. If you want comments, you need to allow commenting before getting the sharing link. Remember that registration is required (once per year per group). If you are thinking about proper citations, Robin Wirthlin has another great post, Privatizing DNA Research Reports for Publication: https://familylocket.com/privatizing-dna-research-reports-for-publication/. I also like her examples of privatizing tester names while making your document easier to understand for your reader. While asking for permission to use their real names might seem best, so many names can be confusing for the reader unless there are lots of charts included. Cleverly anonymizing them can help with that. Valorie On Sun, Jan 8, 2023 at 4:29 PM Valorie Zimmerman via groups.io <valorie.zimmerman=gmail.com@groups.io> wrote:
